Grilled Sausage and Corn over Fettuccine with Tomatoes and Basil

4 pounds sausage links - hot or sweet, your choice
4 ears of corn, husked, desilked, blanched in salted boiling water for 2 minutes
2 tablespoons of olive oil
salt and freshly cracked pepper to taste
12 ounces fettuccine or other dried pasta of your choice
1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
2 tomatoes about the size of baseballs, cored and diced small
1/2 cup roughly chopped basil
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 cup freshly grated hard cheese such as parmesan

Place the sausages on the grill over medium fire and cook, turning several times, until cooked through, 10-12 minutes. Remove from grill and cut each link into 4 pieces.

While the sausage is grilling, rub the ears of corn with the olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper, then place on the grill to cook, rolling several times, 3-4 minutes. Remove from the grill and cut the kernels off the cobs.

Cook the pasta according to the package directions.

Drain the pasta well and place in a medium bowl along with the sausage, corn, and all remaining ingredients except the cheese.  Toss well, adjust eh seasoning, sprinkle liberally with the cheese, and serve at once.
